The Sea of Storms

The vast ocean loomed off the ship’s port side as they sailed close to the shore. Dark clouds swirled in the distance. Flashes of lightning illuminated the mass, popping high and low. A seaman leaned close to be heard over the wind.

“The Sea of Storms is lively today,” he said to me.

“Why is it called the Sea of Storms?” I asked.

“Tis said the Gods of Drakanon are fighting the Gods of Shijuren and their battlefield lies over the Sea of Storms.” He coiled a rope and set it in a bin. “We are running this close to shore so we don’t get pulled into their fight. A storm like that would tear this ship in half.”
